1. So at first classic question, tell us something about your band, members, age, work, hobbies, short history, etc...?

At the moment we are three members. Kim 27 (singer and guitarist), Metzen 29 (Bassist), Michael 28 (guitarist) we dont have a drummer at the moment, he left the band a few weeks ago. But we are on the lookout for a new drummer.

2. When and why you started to deal with idea about the founding the band. And why did you choose the name Freigänger?

The band exists for over a year now. It was founded by Kim and Metzen. A friend of us had the idea to put up the band. Why did we chose the name `Freigänger`? It was about the first thing that came to our minds. We thought it sounds pretty cool and thats about it.

3. Has any of your members any experience with playing in some different band in the past or is any of your members playing in any band besides Freigänger?

We all have been playing in different bands before, in rather unknown bands; but now all of us only play for `Freigänger`.

4. You have out Demo CD and now album Von ganz unten...can you make some short advertisment and describe your sound and lyrics (especially to the acoustic songs like Mein Engel..really like it)...? You have a few covers ond both albums (Combat 84, GG Allin, Red London...) do you prefer older or new bands?

The demo cd id a selfmade production from our rehearsal studio and our first try in recording. The quality answers the exspectation of a demo cd and reflects our skills after two months after founding.
The album `Von ganz unten`is a mixture of Punk/oi and streetpunk elements. The lyrics deal with everyday life and outline our attitude. The song `Mein Engel`is about my daughter who lives at his mothers after her and me splitting up. Thats an important issue to me, thats why the song was written.
The whole album is really pleasing to us and surely a pleasure for any taste. Definitely worth the buy!
We are relatively open to covering songs, naturally songs that come to us naturally and we can identify with, no matter if they are old or new, but some old iconic songs are specially charming to us.

5. Father of your guitar player is running Skinhead Beat Records...why did you choose to release CD by yourself and not by that label? And are you satisfied with the result?
The guitar player whose father runs `Skinhead beat records`no longer plays for us. We decided to do a selfmarketing, because our fans are not exclusively skinheads but also Punks and normal folks. Unfortunately our cd doesnt yet sell best at our shop, for people dont´t tend to buy cd´s anymore due to the crappy download portals.
Of course we sold lots of copies within our circle of friends and acquaintances.

6. You come from the north part of Germany, can you describe the scene there? Bands, clubs, pubs, crews...
In our area and generally in Germany there is a big Oi and Skin scene, but as a band we are not a part of the skinhead scene in particularly, but rather feel home within the unpolitically Oi scene.

7. What about the gigs, do you like playing live? How many have you played yet? And what are your requirements for playing if we want to organise your gig?
We only managed to play one or two live gigs yet, aside from several parties at our studio.
If it was up to us, we would play gigs on every weekend, but however we had several problems with the anifascistic movement, thats why we had to cancel our performances lately. Politically they try to urge us to the right-winged corner.
We are really looking for playing with Condemned 84 at the Evilfest III in France in September. Maybe you folks in the Czech Republic give us the opportunity to also play for you, it would be a great pleasure!

8. It is problem to have a skinhead band in Germany and to find venue for playing?
It´s not easy performing in Germany being a skinhead band, unless you propagate : `Fuck of Nazis`, but that`s not us. We want to dissociate from both sides, left or right. Our songs are unpolitically with lots of fun and lyrics dealing with everydays life.

9. Where can we order your stuff like T-shirts or CD´s?
Support us and buy our Cd´s and Shirt at our shop: www. freigaenger-band.de

10. Do you know anything about Czech Republic or the scene here?
We dont`t really know much about it, well the beer is cheap, isn`t it?

11. Plans for the future...
Finding a new drummer in time, playing a lot of live gigs and producing many more cd`s.

12. Last words....

Once again thanks to all of our friends and fans, your support keeps us alive.
We got over our first year pretty great, inspite of all the obstacles put in our way.
Stay tuned, keep going, WE will!

All the best from Niedersachsen/Germany
