If you ever interview a band from Japan, ask them what they think about weeaboos...  Have you ever heard of 'furries'? Look them up. Now that is scary. And a good example of something that couldn't exist without the internet encouraging people to do things that they might only have thought about otherwise. Far worse than those guys in Belgium who meet up to party, dress up in see-through rubber skinhead clothing and have sex with each other... Peddy - they are really annoying human beings! Imagine people who think that by pretending to be Japanese, using random Japanese words in conversation, wearing Japanese style clothes and buying Japanese products (e.g. snack foods), they can actually *become* Japanese. Because being Japanese is the best thing. Quite often, they are people who only know of Japan through anime, video games, J-pop music and porn - and they get it really badly wrong. Well, this is a similar thing. Both types of people pretend to be something that they're not because they think it makes them cool. This is different from guys who just want to have sex with Japanese women. Because that would be pretty normal, I think...

BTW Peddy, you can print out the full No Man's Land lyrics from their Bandamp page. http://nomansland94.bandcamp.com/album/the-best-of-1994-2012 I think it says that on the digipak, or it was on a piece of paper with it, or something. Because I have them printed here. The written English is not that bad - but it's the guy's accent that makes it hard to understand unless you have the lyric sheet. There are some Malaysian and Indonesian bands that sing in good spoken English. You know how people sometimes think that Evil Conduct are a British band anyway? Well, ACAB and Roots & Boots are the same sort of thing. It's the Japanese bands that have literally unintelligible English. I'm yet to hear a single band that can be understood without the lyric sheet. And then some of them just sing in Japanese with some random English words anyway. I think it's more because they think it sounds cool - because it's probably not even written for people who speak English (you know how hard it is to get Japan CDs in Europe!)...  ...and I'm not dissing them. If I tried to sing in Japanese without knowing the language, it would sound awful. In fact, that would make me as bad as the weeaboos. Do you have weeaboos and wapanese in the Czech Republic? |
