1.Hi so,
can you tell us brief history of the band, members, hobbies, age, work etc...?
The
info on our myspace page gives you a brief history of the band but I will give
you my answers to your questions for the fanzine.
2. How you
came to decision to start a band and why do you choose the name On File? Did
any of your band members played in any different band before On File
Stewart,
Blair & myself are also in Wasted Nation so playing & practicing with
two bands takes up a lot of our time. I joined On File nearly ten years
ago and have enjoyed many gigs in Europe playing with them and seen a few
changes in the line up but this latest one seems to gel really well.
3. What
are your musical influences?
As an
Oi band we are quite unique in the way that Hedgy croons the songs.
4. What
about the lyrics and music, who is responisble for them? Do you play any cover
songs?
Hedgy usually write the lyrics and Blair & myself come up with the tunes to
match them. We sometimes play covers like Blitz's Never Surrender but prefer to play
our own songs.
5. What
about your releases? We were waiting on your new album circa 8 years why does
it took so long?
We all
work and stay in different cities and only meet up once a week to rehearse and
have no pressure to do more from our record company - Step One.
6. How was
the scene in your city and can you recomand us any other bands from your area?
Can you compare scene on British Isles and in Europe? Are there any
differences?
The scene is very small in Scotland
but we have a big following and try to please our fans with a couple of gigs
annually. We recently had Condemned 84 up in Dundee to celebrate their
30th anniversary - which was there first ever gig in bonny Scotland.
There are a few good oi bands in Scotland but not very many good venues
to play in and most people have to travel at least an hour to get to the major
cities for gigs. We have a huge following over Europe and our gigs are
always packed wherever we play.
7. In October
2010 you will play in our country for the first time, do you know anything
about Czech Oi! scene and about Czech republic?
I have
been to Czech for the Antifest festival three years ago when Sham 69 headlined
and had a great weekend and met a few good people. The ska band 2v1
were really good to see live and we met the band afterwards and got a CD from
them. Can you recommend a decent beer? We drank all day but did not
feel any effect of it lol. We are all big beer drinkers.
8. Where
can we buy your stuff like t-shirts, cds, pins..etc...?
We only sell our merch at gigs so
you can buy t-shirt & CD's then.
9. Plans
for the future?
Playing
in Glasgow with Running Riot in October and playing with The Business in
November in Edinburgh after we have been to Czech.
10. Words
on the end..
These are my personal answers but
if you need any more info please keep in touch.
Looking forward to meeting you in
October
Cheers
